Choose You is the American Cancer Society's new national movement that inspires women to put their health first and make healthy lifestyle choices to stay well and help prevent cancer. Three months ago, Chris and I ran in our first half marathon, generating funds in support of the American Cancer Society. At the time we were running either in memory of or in support of friends and family who battled/are battling cancer. Since then, precancerous cells were found in my uterus. Thankfully, due to routine check-ups and early detection, I was able to have surgery to remove these cells. Through this experience, I realized the important of making my health a priority, and when I heard about the Choose You Movement, I wanted to share it, and encourage blog readers make your health a priority. 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in her lifetime. About 50% of cancer deaths could be prevented with emphasis on early detection and healthy lifestyles. The Choose You website provides tools to help readers eat healthy, get active, quit smoking, get regular health checkups, and protect your skin. All of these healthy habits help your body to stay well. Join me in making your health a priority and helping to fight cancer.
