Boston's Run to Remember

On Saturday we headed to Boston to participate in the Boston's Run to Remember 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles)! More importantly, the kids were heading to Boston to have an overnight at Melissa and Andrew's house! This created quite the excitement for Samantha! As you can see the kids are very excited to be heading to Boston (Jake especially since he was facing forward in his car seat, seeing all the sites from a new viewpoint!)

On Saturday we had a fun afternoon hanging out with Melissa and Andrew and getting caught in the rain at the Common. Samantha had fun running around at the Frog Pond playground for a few minutes before we threw in the towel and headed home. Here she is with one of the frogs.

Inside Samantha did some cooking with every single pot and pan that was in the house! She was cooking up a few triscuits in some water. Yum!
Here are Samantha and Andrew cutting up the veggies for the grill. Samantha's job was to either put the pieces of vegetable in the pan or if it was an end piece to put them in the sink. We were all cracking up at her little voice asking Andrew if it was a piece to go "in the sink?"

What was Jake up to? Basically getting into everything and trying to go up the stairs and be everywhere that he wasn't supposed to be!

After a delicious cookout, we left the kids to sleep at Melissa's and headed to a hotel to get a good uninterrupted night's sleep. Melissa and Andrew successfully made it out the door with the kids on Sunday morning to come cheer us on. We got to see them as we rounded the corner to the finish line!
And now....for the statistics I know you are all waiting for! Our first goal was to finish...we did! As for time goals...Chris wanted to finish in under 2 hours; I wanted to finish in 2 hours and 15 minutes. We did it! Chris finished the race in 1:58:49! I finished in 2:15:47! There were over 8,000 runners, and amazingly, Chris finished 1827 overall, and I finished 3506 overall! At the end we were ready to be finished. Both of us said we couldn't even imagine running another 13.1 miles to complete a full marathon. After 3 months of training, it doesn't seem possible that the race has come and gone, but the soreness in my muscles are a sure reminder that yes indeed I did run a 1/2 marathon!
