January Challenge - COMPLETE!

The January Challenge is complete! Chris finished his 100 miles with two days to spare, and actually ended up going 105 miles, I on the other hand finished my last 5 miles on the last day to complete the 100 miles! During the last week, especially with a cold and 2 sick kids, I was tempted to say I had done enough, but I wasn't satisfied with doing 79 miles, I had to finish the last 21! This was a tough challenge, mainly because it takes up a lot of time. During the 20 days, I took off 4 days, which means many days I was doing a lot more than 5 miles. Some days I was doing 8 or 9 miles just to get the daily average down. There is no way I could have done this if I was working outside the home full time. It was really helpful that our gym has a daycare that the kids can go to for the hour and a half that I was working out each day.
It really is a challenge getting your body into shape because you have to be really consistent with both working out and eating well. I think since Christmas I haven't been doing that well in the eating department. Even though losing weight wasn't really a goal of mine in doing the January Challenge, I would have thought that I would have lost some weight doing all that exercise. This is not what happened at all, and it may have something to do with all those extra Christmas treats I've been eating.
Back at the end of the summer I had started using the Body Bugg and set a goal of losing 10 pounds by the end of October. Well, it took me until the end of November, but I did lose the 10 pounds! Ideally I'd like to lose 5 more, and I am working on toning up by doing pilates. Hopefully training for a half marathon will help in that effort! Did we mention that??? Chris and I have signed up to run the Boston's Run to Remember on Jake's birthday (May 31st). We just might be crazy!
