Preparation

What is worse than running a 1/2 marathon? The anticipation of actually having to start training for said 1/2 marathon. We were originally going to start our training on February 1st, but have since pushed back our training start date until March 1st, giving us 3 months to physically train. In the meantime, we are reading about running. Yes, we are reading. About running. I can do this. Reading books about running from the comfy couch sounds right up my alley. Chris went out to search for a book aptly named "Running for Dummies", or some other similar beginners running book. He came back with 4 books! (why we had to push back our start date - I mean come ON. we have FOUR books to read!) In reality, we want to do this right. We want to train and not get to race day and have to back out because we've injured ourselves. So, part of our reading is to help us create our training calendar. This is Chris's territory. I do have to admit that a book about running, although it doesn't sound exciting, it is kind of interesting reading. Right not we are in the midst of reading "Running for Mortals" and Marathoning for Mortals" by John Bingham and Jenny Hadfield. This first quote in Running for Mortals pretty much sums up our entire experience thus far; "The miracle isn't that I finished. The miracle is that I had the courage to start."
Anyway, the majority obviously ruled that Jake looks like Chris, so in place of the blogger poll, we are putting up a countdown to THE BIG RACE!
