When moving back in August, we were excited because back in Boston we had a lot of friends, but ones who were just married or single, nearly all of which had no children. Somehow, here was where our "family friends" were. Apparently this is the area to go if you have kids! Anyway, since being here, I've met a few more "family friends". Around Christmas, a new family moved into the house right next to Chris's parents, and they have a son who is 6 months younger than Sammy. When we enrolled in a town music and movement class, we met another mom and daughter (1 month younger than Samantha). Amanda's neighbor has 2 small children as well. This group of moms and kids recently formed a little playgroup, and we are trying to meet at least once a month as a larger group, but some of us have also been able to get together at other times during the weeks for smaller play dates. Amanda first blogged about our January play date here. At the last minute, our February play date got shuffled to the first week of March. We are having fun watching the kids play together, running around each other's homes, and getting to know each other. We moved here already knowing friends, but it has been fun making a few new friends and hearing Samantha say the names of her friends. One of Samantha's new friends in named Nora, and the other day Sammy was saying "I wanna play Nora". I am lucky enough to have good friends that I still keep in contact with friends from high school and college and it is fun to think about that in 30 years we might look back on these new friendships we are making now, and these people might be some that seems like we've known all our lives. It is a little daunting to think about all the friends who will come and go in Sammy and Jake's lives, so we will approve of and some not I am sure. Maybe their best friends will be some they met in preschool! Anyway, on to the good stuff!
